The hostel is situated off the Thames River in the Historic Southwark area of London. It was the literary backdrop to the writings of Charles Dickens, used as a location for the filming of movies such as Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Bridget Jones’ Diary and the next Harry Potter Movie, and contains some of the best history, art and culture in London. A short walk up the south bank of the Thames takes you through historic Borough market, past the London Dungeon, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre (an authentic Shakespearian period theatre), Tate Modern Gallery, and the Millennium Bridge. Instead you might want to take a stroll across nearby Tower Bridge to the Tower of London to see the crown jewels, or take quick cruise down the river to see The London Eye, Big Ben and The Parliament Buildings.
